One Clear Call
To make the GOSPEL RELEVANT to our COMMUNITY.
In 2009, Ellijay didn’t need another church. Our rural mountain county seemed to already have too many to count. Yet, a small group of people felt a calling from God to start something new. We gathered, prayed, and asked God this key question: “What would we do that other churches in Gilmer County aren’t already doing?”
As a result, we felt that the clear call of God on our church is to simply
Make the gospel relevant to our community.
We looked around and felt that God had strategically put our little group together to uniquely influence our community. The first thing we did was to begin serving in the local school system. We provided children’s clothing and school supply needs, mentored students on campus, and assisted with testing. We were eager to connect to our community any way we could.
We had our very first public worship service on Easter Sunday, 2009 at the East Towne Cinemas movie theater. Every week we hauled our stuff in, set it up, and then packed it up and moved out again when it was over. It was really a lot of work, and we continued to be a “portable church” for the first 5 years of our existence, first in the movie theater, and later in the Ellijay Elementary School.
In 2013, we moved into an existing church building, which we leased for two years. In September 2015, we signed the papers to make it our own.
Our ministry has grown to include a full Children’s Ministry, multiple Sunday morning services, and incredible channels of serving and outreach into our little community.
We strive to be a 1st century group of believers,
leveraging 21st century methods
to raise up the next generation to influence our culture.
